QnA with Speakers--From Structural Barriers to Scalable Solutions: What's Next for E-Waste in SIDS?

10 JUL 2026

This meeting of the ISLANDS E-Waste Community of Practice (CoP) brings together members to continue the exchange of knowledge, experiences and solutions on one of the most pressing waste challenges facing Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

Building on the discussions held during the OEWG-115 Basel Convention side event, the CoP meeting creates a dedicated space to further explore issues that generated significant interest from participants, including financing, circular economy implementation, repair and reuse ecosystems, customs controls, transboundary movements, data gaps, and private-sector engagement. Many questions raised during the event could not be fully addressed within the available time, and participants were invited to continue the conversation through the Green Forum and ISLANDS E-waste Community of Practice.

The meeting will follow a fireside-chat format and aims to deepen peer learning, connect practitioners across regions, and identify practical actions and partnerships that can help translate the event's insights into locally led, scalable e-waste solutions for SIDS.
