Developed jointly by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and UPM Umwelt-Projekt-Management GmbH, this Training of Trainers (ToT) program aims to enhance understanding of climate-resilient opportunities in the sanitation sector and promote citywide inclusive sanitation (CWIS) principles in Africa. The training underscores the relevance and urgency of integrating climate action into sanitation planning and implementation.
Module 3 - Climate Financing Tools for Sanitation
Although only 0.3% of global climate finance currently reaches the WASH sector, a range of mechanisms exists to support adaptation and mitigation through Climate-SMART Sanitation initiatives. This module introduces participants to existing climate financing options available for climate-SMART sanitation, including operational aspects of multilateral climate funds (MCFs), and examines how these instruments operate within the global climate finance architecture. Participants will explore practical entry points for mobilizing finance to advance resilient sanitation solutions.
