Governments increasingly rely on industrial policies to stimulate domestic growth while responding to economic, social, and environmental challenges. Integrating gender equality and women’s economic empowerment into these policies is not only essential for inclusion, but also smart economics—countries that advance gender equality experience faster growth, lower poverty levels, and greater overall well-being. While traditional industrial policies can successfully spur economic development, pairing them with gender-responsive approaches can significantly magnify these gains. 

This webinar will explore the social and economic benefits of embedding gender-responsive considerations into industrial policy design and implementation, with the aim of enhancing policy effectiveness, accelerating growth, and supporting sustainable development. Discussions will cover: (i) the core concepts behind gender-responsive industrial policies, (ii) how such policies can help economies in Asia and the Pacific drive growth while advancing Sustainable Development Goals and broader social outcomes, and (iii) practical ways policymakers can mainstream gender perspectives in policy processes.
