Climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution – the three elements of what is now called the triple planetary crisis – are a growing risk to human health, the environment and the economy. While these challenges are intimately linked, policy responses have traditionally operated in silos, presenting an opportunity for more integrated action.

How will economic growth affect the underlying drivers of the triple planetary crisis? How will these drivers and resulting environmental pressures evolve between now and mid-century? What are the synergies and trade-offs between policies to respond to climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution? How can policymakers develop more integrated responses?

Join us as we unpack these questions at our next OECD Green Talks LIVE on 26 November 2025 from 15:00 to 16:30 CET to launch the OECD Environmental Outlook on the Triple Planetary Crisis: Stakes, Evolution and Policy Linkages. Providing a roadmap to help inform integrated action, the report first examines the biophysical impacts of the triple planetary crisis before establishing projections for the evolution of their interlocking drivers, environmental pressures and states to mid-century. The Outlook also presents an in-depth analysis of the policy linkages between climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution. Following a presentation of the key findings, panellists will discuss how the report can be leveraged to help devise integrated policies. 

Speakers will include Kumi Kitamori, Deputy Director, Shardul Agrawala, Head of the Environment and Economy Integration Division, Rob Dellink, Senior Economist and Yuko Ishibashi, Advisor. 

Following the presentation of the Outlook we will be joined by Jaime de Bourbon de Parme, Climate Envoy of the Netherlands, Barbara Pompili, Ambassador for the Environment of France, Kirsten Schuijt, Director General of WWF International, Nathalie Bernasconi-Osterwalder, Vice-President, Global Strategies and Managing Director for Europe at the International Institute for Sustainable Development, and Anil Markandya, Distinguished Ikerbasque Professor, Basque Centre for Climate Change to discuss how the report can be leveraged to help governments jointly tackle these growing environmental challenges.
