Stockholm Convention Integrated Electronic Toolkit: NIP Harmonized Template and Online Submission

24 JUL 2025

On 24 July 2025 (15:00-17:00 CEST), the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP), as part of the GEF-funded and UNEP-led Global NIP Update project (GEF ID 10785), will host the regional workshop “Stockholm Convention Integrated Electronic Toolkit: NIP Harmonized Template and Online Submission” for countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

This virtual workshop will introduce countries to the Stockholm Convention Integrated Electronic Toolkit, an online platform that streamlines the preparation and submission of National Implementation Plans (NIPs). While the toolkit improves data consistency and reporting, some countries may face adoption challenges due to national legal or institutional constraints. The session will address these issues and encourage practical use.

Organized by GGKP in collaboration with UNEP and the BRS Secretariat, the workshop will feature a live demonstration, followed by a discussion for Parties to share feedback, raise technical questions, and explore ways to align national systems with digital reporting formats. Participants are encouraged to review the Toolkit and NIP template, and confirm their access credentials before the session.

The workshop will bring together national focal points, technical experts and regional partners to advance the following:

Objectives

  • Familiarize Parties with the functionality of the Stockholm Convention Integrated Electronic Toolkit, including navigation, user interface and available features for NIP development and submission.
  • Introduce the standardized National Implementation Plan (NIP) template embedded within the toolkit, highlighting its structure, tabular format and harmonization purpose with Article 15 reporting.
  • Gather practical feedback from Parties on their experiences using the toolkit and new template, and identify challenges, usability concerns, or gaps that could inform future improvements.

Target audience

  • Stockholm Convention Official Contact Points, National Focal Points, National Assistants particularly from project countries
  • National officials and experts involved in the process of reviewing, updating and drafting the NIPs
  • Practitioners and experts supporting NIP Update process in the country
  • Representatives of regional centres
  • Members of NIP National Coordinating Mechanism/Committees and Project Coordination Units/Thematic Task Groups
