Sun Cho commented on Ela Mesinovic's Post in Africa Green Economy Community
Ela Mesinovic

In light of our successful webinar on 'Green Recovery, Green Jobs, and Inclusive Growth in Africa' last Wednesday, 7th of September, here are some key take-aways.

All panelists agreed on the importance of green jobs in national recovery paths after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Seynabou Diouf from (ILO), emphasized the need for a strong social dialogue between governments, employers and worker's organizations for a joint approach in green recovery and creating the future of work.
The private sector as an essential actor in the creation of green jobs, was highlighted by Ms. Olola Vieyra (GGGI). Therefore, policies need to effectively leverage private capital and support green private sector development.

Besides the necessity for green jobs, all speakers also agreed on the need for a gender perspective in green recovery. Women are still underrepresented in sectors that will offer high end green jobs in the future, such as transportation or energy.
One approach to this problem, presented by Monique Ntumngia (Green Girls Organisation), aims at enabling women to run their own clean energy businesses and thus placing them at the forefront of sustainable energy. You can find more on the business model in the link below.

We, once again, want to thank our great speakers for the success of the webinar!
