Description

I am Monica, a creative and open-minded Energy Engineer passionate about making a positive impact on the environment. In the last years, I have come to realise that even the smallest action can have big consequences, which is why I changed my lifestyle to one that helps fight climate change by reducing my carbon footprint and empowering those close to me to embark on this journey.

Driven by curiosity and passion for travelling, I pursued a technical education, first at Politecnico of Turin, Italy and then at KTH, Sweden and UPC, Spain - within the InnoEnergy double degree master in renewable energy. Eager to take up new challenges, I entered the YES-Europe NGO that connects students and young professionals engaged in the sustainable energy world. I also worked as an energy efficiency analyst at the International Energy Agency (IEA), collaborating on multiple projects such as the "G20 Empowering cities for a net-zero future" and "Energy efficiency market 2021" reports. My researches spanned from emerging business models like virtual power plants (VPPs), energy as a service (EaaS) schemes, and peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading, to energy communities and smart charging. I am currently working as Urban Energy intern at UNEP, working on urban cooling and district energy projects in South Asia and North Africa.

I am keen on working on the development of digital energy technologies including smart grids, managed EV charging, and distributed flexibility assets. I strive for a more energy inclusive world and I want to help making it a reality. Ensuring sustainable energy access to all should be a policy priority.
