Dr. Irene Udebuana is a doctor, medical robotics specialist, and award-winning young social impact leader.

Having spent her childhood in a community overwhelmed by plastic pollution, she became determined to solve this problem.

At the young age of 22, while in her final year of medical school at the University of Nigeria, she founded KIDS IN LET, a non-profit organization empowering children living in rural communities in Nigeria with Leadership and STEM skills to tackle plastic pollution and climate change locally and globally. Her work aligns with the United Nations' SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Through Kids in LET, she has reached over 1,000 children via workshops and online advocacy, equipping them with STEM-for-Climate and Green job skills like smart recycling, renewable energy, circular economy practises, and green innovation. She has also launched Eco Clubs in schools in Lagos, Enugu and Anambra states (Nigeria).

Her voice has gained national and global visibility, such as when she spoke at the United Nations Environment Programme and Green Growth Knowledge Partnership program in June 2025, where she shared insights on how youths in Africa are using STEM & Technology to drive circular economy and climate action.

Irene made history in 2023 as the first Nigerian student interviewed and featured in the British Dental Journal, recognized for her groundbreaking fusion of medicine and robotics. A distinguished graduate of UNN, she earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree in 2024, receiving distinctions and was honored as the Best graduating female student.

She has served in various leadership roles including being the President of the Impactfield Leadership Institute Alumni Center and as the Vice President of Let’s Speak Africa (Enugu Chapter), using both platforms to advocate for youth empowerment, gender equality, and climate action.

Her bold vision, impact and commitment makes her a true young and visionary leader.
