On 18 April 2024 (11:30-13:00 CEST), GGKP will be supporting a session on Driving the Circular Economy Transition with Private Sector Initiatives co-organized by the European Commission Directorates General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The global circular economy transition presents challenges to traditional value chains, requiring a redesign towards non-polluting, low-carbon, resource-efficient, and socially inclusive industrial and socio-economic development models. In this transition, entrepreneurs and the private sector will undoubtedly play key roles, intending to shift their production patterns to drive new economic opportunities for growth and jobs while using resources more efficiently. As key players, what have they got to say about the circular economy efforts so far?

This session will dive into both triumphs and obstacles faced by the private sectors, drawn from their own stories. Building on the experiences gained from the implementation of EU funded programmes from the Southern Neighbourhood, the Eastern Partnership and the Western Balkan, the speakers will share ideas and recommendations to expand circular economy solutions across the private sector and encourage sustainable practices.

The session is taking place during the World Circular Economy Forum 2024, a leading event for circular economy thinkers, doers and leaders to highlight some of the most impactful circular solutions from around the world.
