Towards Sustainable Agriculture Transition - Food Retailers, Brands, and Certifiers on Reducing Agrochemicals Across the Supply Chain

13 MAY 2026
Organization:

Driven by evolving global standards, regulatory developments, and growing expectations from buyers and consumers alike, a growing number of food producers, retailers, and certification bodies are rethinking how they source, label, and sell products with a focus on how agrochemicals are used throughout the supply chain.

This session, part of the FARM Knowledge Series convened by the GEF-funded Financing Agrochemical Reduction and Management (GEF-FARM) Programme, brings together pioneers from across the food industry to share what this transition looks like in practice. This includes food producers, retailers, agrochemical experts, and certification bodies; each offers a grounded perspective on efforts to raise the bar on sustainable sourcing and safer pest management.

The webinar also marks the launch of the “Retailers' Guidelines for Providing Product Sustainability Information on Agrochemicals in the Food Sector”, published by GEF-FARM and the One Planet Network.

It will address the following themes:

  • How retailers are working with their suppliers to adhere to standards on agrochemical use and what that looks like along the supply chain
  • Principles and pathways to communicate sustainability commitments to consumers and the public.
  • The role of certification bodies and independent experts in embedding safer pest management into standards.
